Frequently Asked Questions
What is LVtools?
LVtools is a software plug-in to CMRtools that allows the creation of detailed models of the left ventricle. It enables the calculation of key cardiac indices including myocardial mass, ventricular volume and ejection fraction. It also provides regional wall thickness and thickening assessment.

Who is LVtools designed for?
LVtools is designed for cardiac researchers who want to assess the morphological structure of the left ventricle.

How can I download and install LVtools?
LVtools is automatically download and installed when you download and install CMRtools. You may freely download an evaluation version of CMRtools by clicking on the Download button shown above.

What are the differences between LVtools and VentricularTools?

Shortly, there will be two different ventricular analysis packages available from CVIS. LVtools is available now whereas VentricularTools will be released in early 2009. LVtools is designed for research use whilst VentricularTools is designed for clinical assessment. LVtools allows the construction of detailed 4D ventricular models whilst VentricularTools aims to provide assessment of the ventricle in as short a time as possible. Both packages allow the calculation of key cardiac indices including myocardial mass, ventricular volume and ejection fraction. LVtools provides regional wall thickness whilst the initial version of VentricularTools will not provide this feature.

Should I use LVtools or VentricularTools?

If you wish to perform clinical assessment of the left ventricle, you will need VentricularTools rather than LVtools. If you want to obtain as much data as possible regarding the morphological structure of the left ventricle, you should use LVtools.

When will VentricularTools be released?

VentricularTools is currently being validated. It will be released in early 2009.
